"Cape Charles Dreamin'"

This day in Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore of Virginia was a breath of fresh air in the midst of a chaotic season. I think time at the beach always does that for us, doesn't it? Choosing to paint these sweeping clouds and ripples of the Chesapeake Bay with oil pastels was also a sweet release- they never fail to feel so smooth and buttery and freeing. If you look closely, you can see the strokes of pastels in this and the texture of the paper peeking through, and it just adds to the feeling of carefree that a day at the beach gives our souls.
 
9 by 9 inch oil pastel on archival fine art paper, professionally matted, framed in raw maple to approximately 12 by 12 inches, ready to hang. This painting was made with care and love in my home studio in coastal Virginia. I hope it brings joy and light to your home!
